Homecoming Dresses and Dresses…
As the Prom 2012 season starts to kick into gear… 2010 Homecoming styles are still taking center stage in the OMG short prom style category. Many of the Homecoming styles are moving over to prom. These are becoming some of the most requested styles of the new prom season. Manufacturers are carrying these forward while adding colors to the most popular. So remember to look at your favorite cocktail dress as the perfect prom dress. Because of course the key to the night is to make the jaw dropping entrance that is desired by all prom girls!
Shoes are Still Making a Statement
Shoes are still the most important accessory in the formal wear industry. With the short styles still making a huge statement for fall the shoes must also make that statement (and they do). From sequins, feathers, and mirror silver heels the shoes are making a statement that may be stronger than the dress itself. The fashion forward thinking of formal shoe designers Jovani, Night Moves, and Alisha Hill are sure to have the styles that everyone want for the upcoming prom 2012 prom season. We will keep you up to date on the latest looks for your foot fancy!

Miss USA Reigns in Sherri Hill
Miss USA 2011 has been announced. A red head from California with a captivating look, she has made her mark on the formalwear industry already. A model for Sherri Hill’s prom and pageant collections for the past few season, Alyssa has shown that she is a strong look that can captivate an audience.
Not only is Alyssa another part to the Sherri Hill resume but Sherri also dresses all the opening number contestants. It was a wide array of Sherri Hill styling but we loved the the dimension it gave to the intros!
Congratulations to Alyssa and Sherri for a job well done!
Black is Now Back!
We have talked about vivid and neon but as the song it titled or the saying goes “Back in Black.” Whether it is as a stand along color of mixed with the all popular black and white combination, black once again is making a strong statement in the fashion industry. Yes, you can never go wrong wearing black as a dress, suit, etc but when black come back into fashion lets just say you need a lot of black! So get ready for homecoming and prom 2012 black is back and ready for all the glam you need!
Vivid Print Still a Must
Well, we saw the neons in Kors now it is time for the vivid colors of the McQ Resort collection for 2012 to showcase the almost neon look in print. The collection is filled with the hot colors palette of electric blue, neon hot pink, and orange. So, should be say that the brights are back for 2012? We think we may be getting closer to this prediction!
Neon Makes a Statement
While looking through the latest Michael Kors Resort 2012 fashions I noticed one overwhelming feature, neon colors. The colors used for this collection were neon lime and pink, black and gold. Is this showing news to come of the bright neons colors making a comeback for the next season. Also, is this a trend of heading back to gold as an accent color where over the past years silver/platinum is the accent needed. We all shall see as more of 2012 is reviewed.
Sequins Move Forward
Boss has made a mark on the trends of the ladies formalwear industry with the latest collection. This full sequin evening dress in slate makes a true statement on the runway. Many prom designers for 2011 used sequins in their collections but many in the industry wondered if this signaled the return of the full sequin gown that was so popular in the early 1990′s. We think that sequins have made a come back, however this time the use of dimension to the sequin is extremely relevant to the look of the gown. We have to say we love the new use of sequin and hope it continues for a few more seasons!
Taylor Swift with J Mendel
The always lovely Taylor Swift wears an elegant gown from top designer J Mendel (Gilles Mendel of the design house of J Mendel shown). The elegant lace and tiered one shoulder gown showed the grace that the young star has on the red carpet. The Costume Institution Gala presented J Mendel with the fashion designer of the year.
Look for the one shoulder styling to remain strong for the 2012 prom season as many red carpet designers are still designing this cold shoulder look for the upcoming collections.
