The Change to Pageant

Jovani Evening Couture

Now is the time!  As the Memorial Day fast approaches the formalwear business switches from prom to pageant!   With the adding of high end gowns to retailers collections a change happens in the atmosphere of the stores environment.   The look of elegance returns and the fun energy of the fast pace prom season ends.  Remember though if you are that pageant girl looking for the dress, the most expensive dress in the store may not be your best option.  Look for a sophisticated look that still showcases your look and fits your personality and style.  That may be the $800 Sherri Hill and not the custom $2800 gown.  When looking for great pageant designers look toward our favorites (in no particular order) Jovani, La Femme,  Sherri Hill or Tony Bowls.  Each showcase great looks for pageant and have appropriate evening gowns in all price ranges!

Tony Bowls an Idol Favorite

Tony Bowls Evenings

Tony Bowls seems to be a favorite of Lauren!  This seasons American Idol has featured gowns from Jovani, Sherri Hill, and Tony Bowls, but Tony has recently been the stand out with Top 3 Contestant LAuren.  Two weeks in a row she has donned Tony Bowls designs and has advanced, we say try it again this week this may be your lucky charm!

Strong Statements Make Great Styling

Paparazzi by Madeline Gardner

Strong stated styles made a statement this year for prom 2011.   Gowns were everywhere from ruffled, draped, ruches, embroidered, adorned with rosettes, and puffed.  Then the fabrics or should we say fabric combinations were even more eye catching.  Of course, there were the traditional looks. Then, there were the traditional looks with a twist!  This Paparazzi by Madeline Gardner is a true example, with a classic ballgown feel from the back but a front that has a high low hemline with the lining of the gown being in polka dot.  These look seemed to work for most manufacturers and retailers this year so look for them to be around for next season also!

Flowing Elegance

La Femme Fashions 16802

Soft flowing chiffon has made a comeback for Prom 2011.  With the elegance of La Femme Fashions 16802, classic regal looks have made a statement for the 2011 prom season.  With an empire waistline and a heavily embellished bodice, this gown seemed to flatter anyone who tried it.  The look even lead to a short version that also had an appearance on American Idol.  With numerous colors available in the style, this should be a look that is looked to for variations for many years to come.

Abstract Floral with a High Low Look

Jovani Fashions 7450

The first of the most popular styles for Prom 2011 is the abstract floral patterned high low skirt from Jovani.  Jovani 7450 was a strong seller from the first prom shoppers to the last.  The bright and cheerful pattern and color gave an inviting look for and upbeat prom goer.  Look for this dress and style to remain strong for the upcoming Prom 2012 season, as designers are already receiving their first samples for next year!

Prom Time

Across the country Prom 2011 is or has been taking place, so now is the time to wonder what the best dressed wore to prom.  Could it be a LaFemme Fashions, Sherri Hill, Jovani, Tony Bowls, Night Moves, Flirt by Maggie Sottero the list of designers could go on and on but what was the stand out style for the year?  Over the next few blogs we will be showcasing the looks that made the International Prom Association list of top prom styles sold for 2011. Some how we think the designers mentioned may have a part of these looks!

Rocking Those Shoes

Stuart Weitzman "Dcrockcity" Shoe

Stuart Weitzman shoes have been making a statement for 25 years and seem to be only getting stronger in the fashion industry.  The “Dcrockcity” has been seen on celebrities such as Carrie Underwood.  The high in look will run over $500 for a pair but for prom do not fret you can still have this look through prom shoe designers such as Alisha Hill, Night Moves, or Jovani who have high energy shoes with a much more conservative price of $85 to $150.  So shop around and find that celebrity look in your price range and rock those shoes on your own red carpet event!

The Compliment!

Should he compliment with the hue of the dress or should he go neutral and classic?  This seems to be the question that wedding parties to black tie event goers  have to deal.  Well, we say you have the option to go either way, unless dress is specified for the event.  The look should not be overstated by a nice compliment.  As in the picture the red make a statement with out overwhelming the look of the tuxedo or the deep cheery red dress.  so, be young with your look and spice up basic for a change.
